John qualified initially as a forester and economist before undertaking a successful career in industry. He then went into consultancy, developing a successful international consultancy engaged in forestry, forest industries and environmental management. John undertook a number of assignments for major clients and was also successfully established on behalf of clients a number of industry start-ups.  SHREWS was formed to specialise in renewable energy from biomass and waste and also continues with consultancy. The company has successfully secured planning consents and developed a pipeline of projects.  John’s clients include major private and public companies, the World Bank, UN organisations, British Government, EBRD and Asian Development Bank.
